Garden of peace

What quote am I vibing? "This is our contribution—not to force peace upon the world, but to help nurture it... we are walking together, each of us contributing to the garden of peace that grows when we tend to our own hearts and extend that care outward." Venerable Bhikkhu Pannakara, Walk for Peace

Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild in 2026 (704 Pound Goal): 40

All-Time Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild: 4,589

In an attempt to write a post each month with a cleanup summary, and knowing that the next week will be too cold for cleanups as the remnants of this ice storm clear out, here is a summary of 2026 so far!

The happenings of the world have been challenging and upsetting. There have also been hopeful moments like the trek of the Walk for Peace, and the number of people gathering in protest against violence. Communities banding together, and people finding ways for their voices to be heard in an increasingly inharmonious world.

My efforts continue as usual, creating cleaner spaces in my neighborhood. Attempting to keep toxins and plastics out of waterways near me. Offering kindness where I can. And feeding the birds! Today as the ice falls, they are having a field day in our yard, taking advantage of the fluffy leaves to break up the ice, and the abundance of seed, nuts, and bark butter throughout the yard.

Stay cozy, everyone, and stay observant and hopeful - we have a lot of 2026 left, and much to accomplish.
