What quote am I vibing? “We have a startling abundance of the goods that fill a house and a shortage of what’s needed to build a good life.” - Ezra Klein, from Abundance

Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild in 2025 (704 Pound Goal): 350
All-Time Pounds of Trash Removed from the Wild: 4,422
The last three months have been hot, busy, nature-filled, sweaty summer months. I've found that the summer passes by in a blur of good intentions, travel, and surviving the heat.
My tomatoes mostly failed. My other planting ventures came with a variety of successes and learning experiences.
I visited the Blue Ridge Parkway for the first time, and was able to fully immerse myself in nature in a tiny cabin with an outdoor bathroom - thunderstorms and very rocky driveways making the experience occasionally nerve-wracking, but a very satisfying adventure overall.
North Carolina is a state with both mountains and coastline, and I was able to enjoy the ocean side during our July Outer Banks trip - every day was spent frolicking in the Atlantic, and observing the variety of ocean life that washed ashore with the Frey Family.
I am about halfway to my trash goal, with 4 months left in the year. Luckily, the one thing that we can always count on is change. As the heat gets less oppressive, and those cool breezes hit the skin, all I want to do all day every day is to be outside in this pre-fall cool-down. I hope you are enjoying beautiful weather wherever you are as well, and I hope you take some moments to step away from your home and all its stuff, and enjoy the good life outdoors with friends and family. Happy September!
