The romance of my life

What quote am I vibing? “It was here that the romance of my life began." Theodore Roosevelt (he was talking about North Dakota, but, just allow me this)

Road Day: 24

Miles driven today: 935

I'm going to make this short and sweet, because I was on the road for about 15 hours today, driving for 13.5.

I have arrived at the most beautiful home - my home for the next 5 days! In the Black Hills of SD - literally up a cliff. With stunning gardens. A tap for alkaline water. Gracious hosts. Rumor of a cat. I can't wait to explore more, but here's a photo of part of the gardens - and a buffalo skeleton. Did you know I'm going to see BUFFALO IN THE WILD??? I am. Tomorrow morning. I can't believe it.

When I drove west across the Missouri River...I just cannot. Cannot. Appropriately describe how beautiful the reveal of the cliffs and...I don't know what they're called. The river valley versus the...bluffs?

Can you tell I'm tired? This is the most rambling blog post I've ever made.

I also cannot capture on camera how vast and beautiful the vistas of South Dakota are. If you haven't seen them yourself, you should. I may or may not have cried, looking at the hills, listening to George Washington's farewell speech from Hamilton. And you have the freedom to look pretty safely, because there is no one on Rte 90. I had my cruise control on for literally over an hour at a time.

I'm wrapping up. My mind needs rest. Tomorrow will be an amazing day. A two-blog day, in fact!

Part of the expansive outdoor space at the home where I'm staying.

Carlos at Massage Envy in Stuart gave me a tip for driving - bring a tennis ball for self-massage. It's been great.

Nihilism is alive and well and living in Blue Earth, MN

A completely inefficient picture of South Dakota. As I'm sure they all will be.
