Ageless, Timeless

Trails Hiked: Lake Siskiyou Trail, South Shore (Mount Shasta, CA). 3 miles. Elevation change: not much. Surface: packed down dirt

It was a beautiful, warm, and mostly clear day in Mount Shasta. You can feel fall in the air, and the sky has that warm autumn coloring. I realized I haven't spent any time up north in autumn for years. It's always my favorite time, and I'm glad I'm here to enjoy some crispness and autumn splendor.

I got my hair colored!! I had called for an appointment last week - the salon did not use Redken, which is what my color formula is based on, but I gave the formula to the stylist and she said she could mimic it. When I got there today, she had purchased Redken to make sure that I would be happy. Huge shoutout to Karina at Studio B in Mount Shasta who went way above and beyond to create a happy customer. Love that. Love human beings so much.

After my appointment, I took my fresh new hair out for a hike on the south shore of Lake Siskiyou. You may or may not recall that I have already hiked Lake Siskiyou, but Sylvia (my host) let me know that the colors are lovely in the evening, and it's a nice walk when you don't have much time as was the case for me today. She was on point, as always. Had a great walk - quiet and relaxing.

The ladies at the salon mentioned the root beer at Dunsmuir Brewery Works, and gave me a hankering to try it, so after my hike I headed there for a root beer and an elk burger. It was still warm enough to sit on the deck, and I rounded out the day with a beautiful dinner.

When I got home, a package awaited me, and it turned out that my friend Nichol had reached out to Sylvia, and they had worked together to get me a Posh lotion that I used up completely on this trip, that was sold out. Twilight Zoned has soothed me morning and night, and I was holding onto my empty tube just out of desperation. Now I have a full one that will get me through the rest of my trip!

A day of generosity and beauty. A day to feel in love.
